The Summer Summit

Over the past several weeks MACUHO leadership have closely monitored COVID-19’s impact on the higher education community in order to make an informed decision on MACUHO’s 2020 Summer Summit scheduled to take place at Montclair State University on June 18th and 19th.
While physical gatherings are a cornerstone of the MACUHO experience, we are facing unprecedented times in which safety is our absolute priority. Because of our concern for the health and safety of the members of our association we have made the difficult decision to cancel the physical occurrence of the Summer Summit. We would like to extend our gracious thanks to our friends at Montclair and hope to be able to host a MACUHO event on their beautiful campus in the near future.
While we regret this decision, we believe it is in the best interests of the association and its members. In place of this physical meeting MACUHO will be hosting numerous digital offerings throughout the month of June to allow the association leadership to conduct its business and for association members to connect and engage with MACUHO. These offerings will be advertised through email communication, the association’s Facebook page, and the MACUHO website (
As we continue to navigate the personal and professional challenges of these difficult times, MACUHO will continue to strive to be a source of evolving knowledge and steadfast support for the region. I very much look forward to the day that we can meet again as a MACUHO family, and in the meantime look forward to supporting you through MACUHO’s virtual offerings.
Johnny Kocher
MACUHO President

Event Description: The Summer Summit is MACUHO’s annual summer Executive Board and Leadership Council meeting that is also open to anyone in the MACUHO region that would like to attend. The meeting is hosted by a MACUHO member institution and offers attendees the opportunity to visit a regional campus while engaging in professional development with their regional colleagues. The meeting occurs over two days, and the agenda items discussed during the event include association business such as wrap up reports from previous MACUHO events, updates on the current MACUHO Strategic Plan, and budget updates. The meeting also serves as a time for committee and work group members to meet in person and discuss their upcoming events and projects. For those not currently engaged in a leadership position, the Summer Summit offers the opportunity to get an inside look at the operation of a professional association while networking with professionals in the field who can get them further involved in MACUHO leadership positions and provide mentorship and guidance throughout their professional career.
Previous hosts of the MACUHO Summer Summit Include:

Penn State University, University Park

Stevens Institute of Technology

Chestnut Hill College
