Anti-Racism Resources

MACUHO,

We share these resources with a call to action. We are responsible for dismantling white supremacy in our communities, organizations, institutions, and homes. But most importantly, for those of us who are white, we are responsible for dismantling white supremacy in ourselves.

Before sharing this list of resources, guides, links, etc… we are reminded of a quote from this Medium article by Catherine Pugh, Esq.:

Oprah’s internet has volumes of “White Ally” guides: Becoming an Anti-Racist White Ally; The Challenges of Becoming a White Ally; Guidelines for Being A Strong White Ally; Becoming A Trustworthy White Ally; and, my all-time favorite, The White Ally Playbook. Really, though? Really? Here is my book: Stop Being Racist; Get Your People, Too. That’s it. That’s the whole book.

Keep this in mind as a litmus test as you confront racism in all of its forms.

Information about MACUHO's White Accountability Group (a weekly, open, virtual Zoom discussion group):

Purpose Statement: The formation of the MACUHO White Accountability Group acknowledges that racism is a problem caused by (and perpetuated by) white people. MACUHO institutions and its members are no exception to that fact. We are responsible for being active participants in dismantling the oppressive systems that benefit our whiteness. We have power, but often fail to properly and consistently leverage our privilege to call out white supremacy. The purpose of this group is to help each other uncover and address our own racism and hold each other accountable for taking anti-racist actions in our various communities (institutions, local communities, families, etc.)

FormatThe group will continue to host open Zoom meetings every week, alternating between Thursdays and Friday on a weekly basis:

Thursdays from Noon-1pm (starting Thursday September 17th, then October 1st, then October 15th, etc.)

Fridays from 1pm-2pm (starting Friday September 25th, then October 9th, then October 23rd, etc.)
