PPD Committee Meeting Minutes 9.22.14

Hello PPD!

 

Below are the minutes from our meeting last week. If anyone is interested is interested in assisting with any of the initiatives below please let me know. We really need more committee member to be present for the FRWR!

 

We’ll have one more conference call before the Annual Conference, and then a meeting the night before the conference at the conference site for those who can make it. If you have any questions, or other thoughts/ideas, please let us know!

PPD Committee Phone Meeting Minutes

Monday, September 22, 2014

 

 

Committee Members Present:  Joe Uter, Chris Ottey, Meghan Carpentier, Jovin Fernandez, Sinclair Ceasar,

Nick McConnell, Steven Sweat

 

Discussion Items

 

The Common Ground Room

·         Room Sponsor

o   Foliot Furniture will be sponsoring the common ground, providing furniture in the room

 

·         Diversity Committee Initiative

o   Initiative still being finalized – Steven and David working on this

o   Concept is to connect attendees through travel experiences

o   Intent is for attendees to build relationship through conversation about their travel experiences

o   Currently, we will need a large map, cork board, different color tacks/pins

o   Suggested - Possibly include stickers that match pins so that attendees can add stickers to their name tags

 

·         Other Networking Activities

o   Words of Wisdom Board or Wall – Jovin is working on this

o   Connecting Past and Present – Nick is working on this

The Fun Run-Walk-and-Roll (FRWR)

·         Transportation

o   Shuttle Service will be provided from the Radisson to the park where the FRWR will take place

o   Jen Thorpe will be providing recommendations for routes in the park

 

·          Activity During FRWR

o   Suggested: Each participant pair-up with buddy that they do not know and learn more about them

 

·         Giveaway for Participants

o   Nick suggested flat water containers – Joe is looking into this

o   Joe suggested the logo and PPD FRWR be printed on the flat water containers if possible

The Case-Study Competition

·         Host for the Competition

o   Host needed to facilitate the actually case study competition at the conference – Jovin will Host

 

·         Potential Judges

o   The committee suggested 3 seasoned professionals be tapped to judge the competition – Joe reaching out

o   Also suggested that we have a Past Case Study Winner participate as a judge – Joe looking into this

 

·         Frames and Certificate Paper

o   Each Judge, the Prompt Creator, and each Winner will receive a certificate

§  6 frames and certificates in total – Meghan working on this

 

·         Case Study Prompt Submissions

o   Instead of the committee creating a prompt, professionals with 3+ years of experience may submit prompts

o   The winning prompt will be used for the Case Study Competition

o   Other prompts will be used through the year with the authors permission

o   Email needs to be sent to membership inviting them to submit prompts – Joe working on this

The Committee Expo

 

·         Expo Board

o   May need updates – Chris working on this

 

·         Committee Shirts/Pins

o   We have a healthy number of shirts and pins, so we may use many of those this year since the conference theme links the past and present. Joe and Chris will also look at possible additional shirt based on budget.

Post-Conference

·         Article for the Newsletter

o   Generally a member of the committee will write an article for the newsletter following the conference – Sinclair is going to work on this

o   Look for other contributors at the conference – Joe and Chris will do this

 

·         New Attendee Interviews

o   As a committee initiative, we will potentially complete interviews with new attendees pre- and post-conference

·         PPD Meeting Schedule

o   Joe and Chris would like to setup a set schedule for the year. Most likely the committee will begin meeting the third week of month

o   Doodle will be sent out the first week of each month to determine specific time and day

·         Top 10 Program Webinars

o   The hope is that the Top 10 Program presenters (sans the Best Program), would like to participate in a Top 10 Webinar Series

o   The hope is to showcase these programs post-conference to the membership so they have a chance to see them all

Other Items

·         No new items.

MAPC Announcement!

The moment many of you have been waiting for...MAPC 2013 is announced!

We are happy to be returning to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Reading, PA February 21st and 22nd 2013.

Registration will open December 1st 2012. A 30-minute MAPC program will be offered at the Annual Conference in Baltimore, MD, brought to you by our MAPC co-chairs. Please join us for more information about MAPC then!
